Hello and welcome to my weight loss journal.   If anything below seems remotely interesting and you want to friend me, please do.  I love friends.  Just leave me a comment and tell me a bit about yourself before friending me please.

I'm by no means new to this "weight loss" journey, but this still feels new to me.  I suppose that's not a bad thing really since if it were less "new", I'd find it boring and uninteresting.  I need this to remain vibrant and exciting in order for it to really mean something.  This will not be a one-day, one-week, one-year venture.  I've really come to see this is what forever will be for me.

I've been on every diet.  My story is no different from anyone else's.  What is different this time is my reason for wanting to lose weight.  While looking good in clothes and getting away from the plus sizes is still appealing, I need to get healthy.  Of course, this means feeling better and eliminating risks such as heart disease and stroke (and losing those blood pressure pills I've been taking for almost a year now), but it means more too.  At this point, I need to feel better about myself.  I hate always having to worry about people talking about me or wondering if they're judging me because of my size.

Part of this is vanity.  I'm not going to lie here and I'd be lying to myself if I suggested I wanted to just be healthy in my mind and spirit only.  I used to be a really pretty girl and now I'm not.  Simple as that.  There are those who gain weight and are able to still look pretty nice and maintain a semblance of attractiveness.  I am not that girl.

I begin this weight loss journey in earnest in a few weeks.  Life is about to take a major shift for me on January 29th.  Then, I begin my 6 month sabbatical from work.  That will give me time to focus on me and really up the ante on this weight loss.
